This platform explores the intersection of law, culture, and power through incisive commentary, a provocative newsletter, and forthcoming books. We wield legal expertise to dissect forces shaping our world, from constitutional tensions to cultural shifts.

CURSORY CONVERSATIONS
A Substack Newsletter Designed to Spark Dialogue, not end it.
In legal writing, "cursory" often describes something done hastily, without deep examination. But here, we're flipping the script. Cursory Conversations isn't about skimming the surface — it's about whetting your intellectual appetite with concise yet provocative ideas that demand deeper discussion.
Each installment will leave you with more questions than answers, because the best conversations don't belong in a vacuum—they belong in your orbit.
Think of this as your mental CC: field. We'll tackle thought-starters on culture, law, philosophy, and society—topics just substantial enough to linger in your mind but open-ended enough to evolve over drinks, dinner, or a late-night text thread.
The goal? To move beyond passive reading and into active conversations.
So consider this your official notice: You've been cc'd. Now, pass it on.

UNMASKING THE ARCHITECTS OF BELIEF

400 Feet Deep. 400 Years Long. Unmasking the Architects of Belief.
In the Limpopo province of South Africa a wild fig tree reaches 400 feet into the earth. Its roots are the deepest ever recorded.
They are a hidden lifeline anchored in the ancient water of the Echo Caves.
For many 400 is a number of immense weight. We often talk about the 400 years. The Biblical cycle of captivity. The centuries of the Transatlantic slave trade. The long weary wait for a Promised Land.
We have been told to watch the leaves of the fig tree for signs of the end searching for an Apocalypse. But we forget that Apocalypse literally means an unveiling or an unmasking. It is not a destruction. It is a revelation of what has been kept from us.
While the Architects of Belief have kept us staring at the surface obsessing over curated myths and manufactured signs the real story has been systematically buried in the dark for four centuries. It did not just fall into the shadows. It was hidden there to keep us from our own foundation.
In this upcoming series I am going to the root. Through a tapestry of African lore, anecdotal narratives, and sharp polemic I will interrogate the narratives that keep us trapped in cycles of reaction. This is a search for the truth that was never meant to see the light.
Who is feeding the roots of your belief system? And what happens when the mask finally falls?
The Unmasking begins soon on Substack.
